I am pleased to announce that version 0.13 of Datasphere, the WWCN server
software package, has been released. Many small and a few fatal bugs have
been fixed, which were responsible for about 90% of the coredumps in the
past. Undoubtedly, new bugs will show up; please report them to me
(grit@wwcn.org) if you find one.
I would like to ask the "production" admins to upgrade a.s.a.p; I will
upgrade the production- and betatest servers to which I have shell access
myself.
The bugs that have been fixed are:
- an invalid USER message (IRC protocol) would crash the server
- an invalid .IAM CLNT message (WWCP protocol) would crash the server
- a WHOIS on a WWCP client would crash the server
- numerics were not in 3-character format, causing a.o. sirc not to like WWCN
- sending USER before NICK (irc protocol) would give weird effects
- a few bugs in the Makefile for the "install" targets have been fixed
a few things were added:
- a SYNC command to resync a server with the CDS
- the diagnostics connection has been polished up; it works again (admins:
contact me on how to use it)
- a first step towards a unix text-based client, called "tap" (your tap into
the datasphere). It can't join channels and chat yet. It's in the release
package because removing it is extra effort ;)
The new version, officially labelled 0.13, is available for download at;

Have fun!
