Winterscape

This painting is inspired on the many relaxing hours I've spent watching Bob Ross make his landscape paintings (incidentally, a similar but much better done picture can be found on the Bob Ross website). By "mapping" Bob's painting techniques to a digital counterpart, this is my first digital painting that I actually think looks like it has been done with a brush. In reality, it was done with nothing but the Gimp and a mouse. I used mainly the smudge tool and some large custom brushes to obtain the effects. The shadows of the mountains in the background were accentuated with the airbrush tool. I drew this picture during the DND Progathon of 2006.
